What exactly is a "city boy"?

This is a question I get asked often, but it's difficult to define in a single word.

While it's sometimes seen as a fashion style, while being stylish is probably one element of being a city boy, it's more than that.

I think it's more attractive when someone's individuality shines through no matter what they wear, rather than someone who's always thinking about what to wear.

The inaugural issue of *POPEYE* magazine contains this sentence:
"If you live in the city, even a week away will make you miss that air."

That's absolutely true.

We also love Ginza, where our editorial office is located, and we enjoy life in Tokyo in many ways.

Traveling is fun sometimes, but we still miss the city's neon lights.

In short, a city boy is someone who can literally enjoy city life.

And, amidst an endless array of choices, it's fair to say they're someone who can skillfully edit and incorporate what they need, following their curiosity.

This time, we've divided it into three main categories—fashion, lifestyle, and town guide—and tried to gather knowledge and information that we, as readers, consider to be essential for a "city boy."

It includes things like the mindset of "this is how a city boy would do it."

But you don't need to read everything.

It's a magazine, so you don't have to read it from cover to cover.

We hope you'll pick and choose the information that you find interesting or want to try.

Keep it on hand and flip through it occasionally. When you feel you've had enough, you can pass it on to someone else, sell it to a used bookstore, or of course, we'd be happy if you kept it somewhere.

We want our magazine to be more casual, more accessible, and to have a friendship-like relationship with our readers.
