This piece is inspired by the double-V sweatshirts from the 1940s and 1950s, featuring V-shaped gussets at the front and back necklines. Originally designed for practical purposes—such as preventing sweat stains and providing stretch—these details are now cherished in the vintage market as iconic elements of classic sweatshirts.
Its defining characteristics are the traces of repairs made as the garment was worn and mended over time, and the advanced fading that makes it difficult to discern the original color.At BOW WOW, rather than producing overly polished reissues, we first envision a state where the garment’s owner’s lifestyle and usage have been imprinted upon it over time, and we assemble it as a brand-new product that incorporates even these “traces of time.”
By combining a yellowish body—faded to the point where the original color is unrecognizable—with repair marks, we intentionally recreate the look often found in old sweatshirts where it’s hard to tell whether a mark is color or dirt.
